Chown
When Chown Hardware asked us to imagine their new showroom in Seattle’s SoDo district, it was a years-long collaboration coming full circle. The oldest family-owned and operated hardware and fixture retailer in North America, Chown has been a resource for WDP projects for many years. A vintage hardware store meets classic modern design inspired the overall look, as our team was challenged to create a destination and resource that would appeal to design professionals, contractors, and the general public. A gallery-style environment with wide-plank flooring, white walls, and white oak casework allow the numerous lighting, bathroom, and plumbing collections to take center stage. Moveable display walls and adjustable lighting accommodate and organize inventory that is constantly changing. Dynamic and flexible presentation options allow the client to create curated looks and vignettes to present the product in relevant and engaging ways. A second-floor mezzanine breaks up the volume of the space and showcases bathtubs and working plumbing fixtures. An adjoining conference room with counter-height tables creates a quiet space for client sales staff to meet with designers and manufacturers. A true partnership from start to finish, our collaboration with the Chown Hardware team was an honor and a pleasure.
